Han, regarding the fifo being overwritten, please see the first part of the article under "Quick Test". I probably should have been more explicit that this is the first step.

Regarding the second question about routing log files. That line will cause all logging to go to the server defined by the IP. It depends on the rest of the configuration in your rsyslog.conf file. What I have documented here appends a line to your existing rsyslog file.
