After completing installation and testing your backups with Borg, the next thing I wanted to do was automate the process. I had stumbled across Borgmatic as a way to accomplish this. Though I like the options and capabilities that Borgmatic provided, its usage pages seemed as long and complex as Borg. It also seemed to wrap several commands that borg provided in a Borgmatic wrapper. I was concerned about learning this new syntax and new set of commands (I just learned the basics of Borg). Though I think I will eventually implement Borgmatic, I wanted to backups scheduled. I think using Borgmatic may be an option for me as I become more comfortable with Borg.

In addition to finding Borgmatic, I ran across Vorta. Vorta is a client for Mac. The installation couldn’t be easier.

$ brew cask install vorta

After brew installs Vorta, you will find it in your applications folder. Double clicking launches and places a new icon in the title bar

Vorta Icon in the menu bar

Selecting the icon and the first menu items brings up the client
